The eight (8) county area served by River Hills Initiative is filled with a diverse history dating well before Iowa became a state, when Indian tribes made Southern Iowa their home.  Encompassing nearly 4,000 square miles, the RHI neighborhood offers recreational and educational fun for the whole family. 

Historic architecture, designed by the founding fathers, line the streets and byways. outdoor enthusiasts will find a paradise of waterways, for water skiing, sailing, swimming and fishing. This area of the state has an extremely large wildlife population. It is commonly referred to as a "Hunter's Paradise", hunting with a gun or a camera, you'll spot hundreds of deer, turkeys, pheasants, squirrels and other native species. We are fortunate to be blessed with an abundance of natural beauty. Our many state and county parks welcome thousands of traveling visitors every year.
